Did you enjoy the remastered version of Tomb Raider I-III? There’s more!

Updated: 1 day ago

Get ready, Lara Croft fans! In 2025, the iconic gaming heroine will make a grand return with Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered. Crystal Dynamics has revealed that this collection will bring back the slightly less celebrated titles of the series from their original release — Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (1999), Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000), and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003) — all with updated visuals and refreshed gameplay.

Just like the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection, this new remaster promises enhanced graphics, modernized controls, a new photo mode, and many other improvements. Aspyr, the studio behind the remastered versions of the first three games, is leading this project, promising a gaming experience that honors Lara's legacy.

It’s worth noting that Tomb Raider IV to VI marked a challenging period for the franchise. The original creators, Core Design, were feeling burned out from constantly releasing sequels and even hinted that Lara might have met her end in The Last Revelation. However, this idea was quickly abandoned in the following games, such as Chronicles, which had a more nostalgic vibe, and The Angel of Darkness, with its darker tone.

The developers faced enormous challenges in creating these games, including delays and technical issues, which directly impacted the quality and reception of the titles. At the time, The Last Revelation (my favorite, for sure), Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness didn’t impress critics, receiving mixed or negative reviews. Starting in 2003, Crystal Dynamics took over the franchise and revitalized the story with Tomb Raider: Legend in 2006.

Now, with the new remaster, Aspyr has the opportunity to fix some of the flaws that fans pointed out. The first remastered collection was a huge success, and the expectation is that this new version will bring back the magic of the games.Excited? Then mark your calendar: Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered is set to release on February 14, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

And that's not all! This week, Crystal Dynamics also celebrated two major milestones: the Tomb Raider franchise has sold over 100 million units in its 27-year history, and for animation fans, the new series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft premiered on Netflix last Thursday. Of course, we can’t forget the excitement we’re all feeling as we wait for the announcement of the new game, which still doesn’t have a release date but is expected in the next two years... We’re eagerly waiting!
