Lara Croft Returns in New Netflix Animated Series: Second Season Already in Production

Exciting news for all Tomb Raider fans! The world of Lara Croft is about to expand with a brand new animated series coming to Netflix. As we previously reported, this highly anticipated adaptation was first announced in January 2021. However, we've just discovered that a second season is already in the works, adding even more excitement to the mix.

The recent casting announcements have given us even more reason to be thrilled. Hayley Atwell, known for her outstanding performances in various roles, will be taking on the iconic character of Lara Croft. Joining her on this adventure are the talented Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon, who will lend their voices to other key characters in the series.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this animated series is that it will continue the story beyond the timeline of the rebooted game trilogy. Fans can expect a fresh and engaging narrative that delves further into the world of Tomb Raider, offering new perspectives on the beloved franchise.

While an official release date has yet to be announced, the absence of this information only heightens the anticipation surrounding the show. Fans can't wait to witness the next chapter of Lara Croft's journey unfold on their screens.

In an exclusive preview of Netflix's Tomb Raider adaptation, described as an anime, we've managed to gather some exciting details about the series' storyline. The show will be produced by Legendary Entertainment, a well-known name in the entertainment industry, ensuring high production quality and a captivating viewing experience.

Adding to the excitement, Ncuti Gatwa, best known for his role as Eric Effiong in Netflix's Sex Education, will be joining the cast for the second season. Gatwa has been a part of the series since its inception in 2019 and is set to bid farewell in the upcoming fourth season. However, his involvement in Tomb Raider offers fans another chance to enjoy his incredible talent before his departure.

Apart from Sex Education, Gatwa has some exciting projects on the horizon. He is set to become the new Doctor in the long-running BBC series Doctor Who, as well as portray one of the "Kens" in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Warner Bros. film, Barbie.

According to the actor's spotlight page, Gatwa will be lending his voice to the character Exu. As far as we know, Exu is a new addition to the franchise, as no character by that name has appeared in previous games. This introduces an intriguing element to the series, leaving fans curious about Exu's role and significance in Lara Croft's adventures.

As we eagerly await further updates and the official release of the Tomb Raider animated series on Netflix, the anticipation continues to grow. Stay tuned for more news and be ready to join Lara Croft on her thrilling quests like never before.
